چکیده

Radial Basis Function-generated Finite Differences (RBF-FD) is a popular variant of local strong-form meshless methods that do not require predefined connection between the nodes, making it easier to adapt node-distribution problem under consideration. This paper investigates an RBF-FD solution time-domain acoustic wave propagation in context seismic modeling Earth's subsurface. Through number numerical tests, ranging from homogeneous highly-heterogeneous velocity models including non-smooth irregular topography, we demonstrate present approach can be further generalized solve large-scale and full waveform inversion problems arbitrarily complex enabling more robust interpretations geophysical observations

Time domain numerical modeling of wave propagation in 2D heterogeneous porous media

This paper deals with the numerical modeling of wave propagation in porous media described by Biot’s theory. The viscous efforts between the fluid and the elastic skeleton are assumed to be a linear function of the relative velocity, which is valid in the low-frequency range. The coexistence of propagating fast compressional wave and shear wave, and of a diffusive slow compressional wave, makes...

Acoustic Wave Propagation in Complicated Geometries and Heterogeneous Media

Weconstruct finite difference discretizations of the acousticwave equation in complicated geometries and heterogeneous media. Particular emphasis is placed on the accurate treatment of interfaces at which the underlying media parameters have jump discontinuities. Discontinuousmedia is treated by subdividing the domain into blockswith continuousmedia. The equation on each block is then discretiz...

Space-Time Multiscale Model for Wave Propagation in Heterogeneous Media

Abstract: A space-time multiscale model for wave propagation in heterogeneous media is developed. The model builds on the authors’ previous work on the higher-order mathematical homogenization theory with multiple spatial and temporal scales, and is aimed at addressing the issues of stability and mathematical consistency. Starting from the weak forms of homogenized macroscopic equations of moti...

An advanced direct time domain BEM for 3-D wave propagation in acoustic media

This paper presents a new Boundary Element Method (BEM) in the direct time domain for the solution of the wave propagation problem in 3D homogenous inviscid acoustic media. The methodology is based on impulse response techniques. To this end, the fundamental solutions associated with the Boundary Integral Equation are derived for concentrated sources of higher order B-spline time modulation. Hi...

Finite-Difference Time-Domain Simulation of Light Propagation in 2D Periodic and Quasi-Periodic Photonic Structures

Ultra-short pulse is a promising technology for achieving ultra-high data rate transmission which is required to follow the increased demand of data transport over an optical communication system. Therefore, the propagation of such type of pulses and the effects that it may suffer during its transmission through an optical waveguide has received a great deal of attention in the recent years. We...
